What is a dental crown?

<highlight-peru>A crown is a tooth shaped covering cemented into place over an existing tooth or used to cover a dental implant.<highlight-peru>

When your tooth shows signs of decay, our skilled dentists at Mansion House Dental Practice can produce top quality crowns with the help of our excellent dental laboratories, whose expert technicians are able to produce beautifully natural looking restorations.

Crowns are used to build up a tooth that has been chipped or broken or has become too weak to chew with.

Crowns are made of porcelain or precious metals, or a combination of these materials. They are also used to cover discoloured fillings and to add strength to a weakened tooth. Ceramic crowns can produce near perfect aesthetic results that are indistinguishable from natural teeth. Here in the City of London, we only use the highest quality dental crowns for a seamless result and a smile you’ll want to show off.

Dental crown treatment at Mansion House

<highlight-peru>Your dental crown treatment will take place over several appointments at our City of London clinic, in order to prepare the tooth ready for the tailor-made crown to be fitted.<highlight-peru>

Once your tooth has been shaped, your dentist will take an impression of it and send it to the dental laboratory for your crown to be made. We’ll fit you with a temporary crown in the meantime, which will look and feel natural. When your crown is ready, your dentist will fit it permanently in place.
